These are images from our papermaking workshop at Rakushikan in Kyoto. If you too would like to make paper right in the heart of Kyoto then definitely bookmark this place. Rakushikan is a four level paper shop that sells a vast range of Japanese papers and paper products, and there is a gallery and workshop space too.

Rakushikan as well as Morita Washi and Kamiji Kakimoto are all excellent shops to visit in Kyoto if you’re looking to buy large sheets of high quality Japanese paper. The selection they offer is amazing!

We also spent a full-day just outside of Tokyo in a wonderful old papermaking factory. I’ll blog about it a bit later on with all the details. If you have ever wanted to learn to make paper the traditional way, and in one of the most picturesque parts of Japan, then be sure to keep an eye out for this upcoming post.
