Des Plis (http://www.desplis.fr/) (french for ‘folds’) is a small, family run Parisian paper workshop. It was started 40 years ago by one expert folder, Serge Barbier. (http://www.desplis.fr/spip.php?article116) For decades, he folded, unfolded, experimented, invented, and created beautiful handcrafted packages made of paper. A few years ago Serge Barbier retired, and to his delight his daughter Juliette stepped in, to continue her father’s work.

Juliette Barbier (http://www.juliettebarbier.com/) is a textile designer, but she grew up learning all about paper and folds from her father. This meant a smooth transition, from her career in textiles to her colourful new world of paper. Today, Juliette along with her happy helpers (all Barbier family members, and friend Babeth) cut, paste, crease and fold, beautiful little cards and packages for all to enjoy. I can’t wait to visit, next time I’m in Paris!
