Ruth Gurvich is one of my favourite artists. She created this collection titled Lightscape for Nymphenburg – a European porcelain manufacturer, who has been handcrafting the finest porcelain for over 260 years.
Lightscape is based entirely on paper models, sculpted by Ruth from sheets of handmade paper. Curved and folded in all the right places, her paper models were passed onto the artisans at Nymphenburg, to recreate in porcelain. There, they matched the original paper works, right down to the paper’s texture. Keeping the porcelain objects unglazed and unpainted on the outside, maintained their paper-like quality. It’s hard to believe they are not made of paper. They are so amaaaaazing!
